Built for a busy counter
Find products by name or barcode, add quantities and take payment in cash, by bank or by mobile money. Each completed sale reduces stock and posts revenue and cost of sales to your accounts, so profit is visible the same day.
Automatic till day and daily report
InsightBooks opens the till day at 05:00 and closes it at 19:00 in your business time zone. When the till closes, the day's sales report is emailed to the owner and admin users. Cashiers can still open and close the till by hand, and the opening float and cash deposits are tracked.
Control over cashiers
Roles and permissions decide what each user can open, so a cashier can be limited to selling while managers see reports and settings. Every sale records who made it, which helps when you check shortages at the end of the day.
Stock across shops and the warehouse
If you run a warehouse, shop staff can send a supply request from the POS when stock runs low and the warehouse can approve and fulfil it. Read more on the inventory page.
Sell on a phone or when the internet is down
The InsightBooks Android app includes POS for selling from a phone. The Windows desktop app keeps recording sales when the internet goes off and uploads them when the connection comes back.
Frequently asked questions
Does the POS work with barcodes?
Yes. Products can carry barcodes, InsightBooks can generate barcode labels and cashiers can find products by barcode at checkout.
When is the daily sales report sent?
The till closes automatically at 19:00 in your business time zone and the day's sales report is emailed to owner and admin users.
Can I use the POS without internet?
The web POS needs a connection. The Windows desktop app records sales offline and syncs them when the internet is back. The first sign-in on the desktop app needs internet.
Which receipt printers can I use?
Receipts can be laid out for common receipt paper widths such as 58 mm and 80 mm. Ask us to confirm a specific printer model before you buy it.
